less是谁的比较级

less是little的比较级，有两个用法，一是接名词，表示比较少的，例如less water，less time， less commitment。名词要用不可数名词或者抽象名词。第二种用法，后面接形容词、副词的原型，表示比较少，例如less happy。

1.less是little(小；少)的比较级

(1)He spends less time(in)doing experiment.他做实验花时间较少。

(2)Such problems are of less importance.这样一些问题比较不重要。

(3)She says less but does more.她说话较少，但做事较多。

(4)The power is not less than 15h.p.功率不小于15匹马力。

(5)We regard her less as our teacher than as our friend.我们把她看作我们的朋友，胜过我们把她看作我们的老师。

2.“less+形容词或副词”构成劣等比较，作“较不……”、“更不……”。

(1)It is less cold than it was yesterday.天气不如昨天那样冷。

(2)When a cup of water is heated from below the water at the bottom becomes less dense and rises.当一杯水从下面被加热时，底部的水就会变得不那么稠密并上升。

(3)He studies English less hard than before.他学英语不如以前那样努力。

3.less作名词用，表示“较少量”、“较少数”之意。

(1)The students designed a couple of new-type machines in less than a year.学生用不到一年的时间设计了两台新型机器。

(2)Less than ten of the thermometers remain.这些温度计剩下来的不到十支。

4.less作介词，表示“不足”、“还差”之意。

(1)Five less two leaves three.五减去二余二。

(2)The time cycle is a year less three days.(时间)周期等于一年差三天。

(1)The neighboring molecules have more or less the same energy.邻近分子具有或多或少相同的能力。

(2)He will be studying more or less a week.他将学习一周左右。

(3)We can learn more or less according as we study and work.根据学习和工作情况，我们可以或多或少的学习。

(4)It is neither more nor less a lie.那是十足的谎言。

(5)I speak no English，much less(still less)French.我不会讲英语，更不用说法语了。(注意，只用于否定句。)

在肯定句中要用more代替其中的less。例如：I like chemistry，much more或still more physics.我喜欢化学，更喜欢物理。
